Call Me Poseidon

Call Me Poseidon

If you’re a keen follower you will have noticed from my Facebook I’ve recently become a fully qualified scuba diver! I’ve been learning on and off for what seems like bloody ages now (I broke my arm at the start of the course so we had to wait a while) but last weekend all of my hard work (floating around) paid off.

I’d been learning to dive with a local dive center here in North Wales called Frogsborn. To get our qualifications we had to end our course with at least 4 dives in open water. I’ve invested a bit of money recently in upgrading my photography gear so that I can carry on taking photos underwater (mainly an underwater housing for the 7D and a new GoPro HD Hero2). I didn’t want to ruin the first few dives by having to look after the camera as well as doing different tasks underwater so I didn’t take the cam down until the 4th dive.

Unfortunately as you can expect in Wales the weather wasn’t the best the day before which also meant the water visibility was very poor. I’ve managed to get a few photos so thought I’d share them with you here. I’ll try and upload a few of the videos soon too! It’s surprising how hard it is to get a good shot with the camera attached to your wrist. I may invest in some sore of laser direction next time. But one thing is for sure, you’re going to be seeing me in my wet suit more and more from now on!

Congratulations! I’ve always wanted to learn to dive. There is something so alien about undersea life, it’s a whole other world down there.

Glad you enjoyed your dive Poseidon (:) ) Water must have been freezing though! I got my NAUI certification years ago and I still have to use it!

Awesome! I love scuba diving. Great job finishing off your certification even though you had that broken arm. Your photos are great too. Too bad the visibility was poor, but what can you do about that I suppose. Are you sitting in something in your last photo? Cheers!

Yeah, sitting in a sunken car in the last photo haha. Looking to go somewhere with better visibility next… crystal clear waters. :-)
