Charleville: Day 1

Charleville: Day 1

Posted on 17. Mar, 2011 by in Australia, Blog

After arriving in Charleville we unpacked the car and relaxed a little before doing anything else. One of the things I wanted to do the most was see some Kangaroos! Somebody said that there would be some at the hospital or by the High School so Tom and I took a drive around town to try and see some.

Tom drove around town as he had been here before. He knew where he was going and it’d be safe for him to drive here without his license as it’s only a small place so I highly doubt we’d be pulled over.

We didn’t go straight to the hospital. Instead we drove a little out of town towards the space observatory. In the field next to it was a whole load of kangaroos. They weren’t the tamest of roo’s and literally hopped away when trying to get close. Because the roos here weren’t very tame we went to the Hospital instead where there were meant to be some that were always there. These roos were much tamer and Tom got some amazing photos of them! I forgot to take my camera so unfortunately I didn’t get any. We didn’t stay there too long before heading back to the house.

We ate some dinner and relaxed a little  before me and Tom headed out again to take some starscape photos. Because Charleville is pretty much in the middle of nowhere there was no light pollution at all. The amount of stars that you could see was pretty amazing. You were also able to see some sort of nebula and cluster of stars with the naked eye. I’ve seriously never seen anything like it in my life – it was amazing! Tom got the best pictures that night as again I forgot to take my camera, but here are some of them!Starscape
